Afterpi-acticing a short time in Santa Rosa, Sonoma county, he came to Mendo-cino county, and not finding a good opening at Ukiah, he located at Mendo-cino City, where he resided till 1879, when he was elected on the Demo-cratic ticket to the office of District Attorney. He then took up his abodeat Ukiah, where he still resides, faithfully discharging the duties of his Yell is one of the youngest, if not the youngest. He completed his scholastic course at the Gurnnette Institute;commenced the study of law at eighteen years of age, and was admitttedto practice in all the courts of Georgia at the age of twenty. He leftGeorgia in the winter of 1848, and embarked at New Orleans for Vera Cruz,traveling through Mexico to Mazatlan, where he took passage on the , arriving in San Francisco April 24, 1849.
