Psoriasis is a common skin disease involving a large increase in the speed of epidermal (outer skin layer) cell production, which causes scaly pink patches to form that may become infected and itchy. Psoriasis may be caused by certain infections, stress or be drug- induced. Treatment is firstly by ointments, and then by phototherapy and systemic drugs.
