A Marine pilot, Major Gerald Mueller, narrowly escaped injury during a resupply mission in Vietnam when a North Vietnamese bullet pierced the side of his helicopter. The bullet was stopped by an Emergency Procedures Manual, preventing it from entering his leg. The incident occurred on September 22, 1966. This is a defense department photograph of the incident.
