Interior of All Saints church, Godshill on the Isle of Wight, England

There has been a church on the site of All Saints in Godshill for over 950 years. In fact the name of the village meant the hill of the idol in Old English suggesting that there was originally a pagan shrine at the location. There is nothing left of the Saxon church or the Norman one that replaced it. The current church dates mainly from the 14th century and is the largest pre-Reformation church on the island at 27m long by 18m across the transepts.
