Jardin Majorelle Jardin Bou Saf Marrakech Marrakesh Morocco North Africa

the Jardin Majorelle (or Jardin Bou Saf) was created in the 1920s by the French painter Jacques Majorelle (1886-1962). Now owned and maintained by the fashion designer Yves St Laurent the 12 acre garden has an amazing feeling of tranquillity, an atmosphere enhanced by groves of bamboo, cactus cactii gardens, dwarf palm, and agave. There are ponds, fountains, waterways. Stoneworks, pergolas and buildings are decorated a striking mauvish-blue colour color. In Majorelle's former studio there is a Museum of Islamic Art which exhibits Yves St Laurent's fine collection of North African carpets, pottery, furniture and doors.
