But motor apparatus hasnow been in actual service in manycities for varying periods, and its effi-ciency and reliability can be testified toby so many fire authorities that there Isno good ground for entertaining doubtsof these points any longer. Fire ChiefKenlon, of New York, touching on thismatter, made the statement that in sixmonths the motor-drawn steamer in themetropolitan department answered near-ly 500 alarms, and In no case had failedto reach the fire, in most cases in bettertime than the horses.
