ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS The high potential wiring system is shown in one of thediagrams. It will be observed that the group busbars may beconnected together to form an auxiliary bus and that greatflexibility is thus obtained. The group and bus-bar connect-. Hudson & Manhattan Railroad Power Station—Boiler Two brick-lined steel ash hoppers, with cast-iron gates, areprovided under each boiler. By means of steel ash cars andtracks, the ashes are conveyed to one of the skip hoists andelevated to chutes through which the ashes are delivered eitherdirectly into a car on the track outside the building or to alarge ash storage bin. The ash storage bin is designed so thatthe ashes can be discharged into railroad cars. FEED WATER The feed water is obtained from two independent 8-in. citymains. There are four main storage tanks equipped with Fronts. Ash Dump and Ash Car ing switching are non-automatic. The feeder and alternatorswitches are provided with overload time-limit relays. Allhigh potential connections are made by means of oil shown in the cross-section, the oil switches and busbarsare located in the basement, thus securing the shortest possi-ble length of high potential cables.
