The cooperative housing estate in Otto-Richter-Strasse in Magdeburg was built from 1904 to 1916 according to the principles of Neues Bauen. In 1921, the architect Bruno Taut was appointed city planning director of Magdeburg. He immediately set about implementing his concept of the colourful city - colour is joy of living.
