It saw the construction of a complex of several large office blocks, the first of which to be built was 1 Canada Square, completed in 1991. Designed by American architect Cesar Pelli, it is the tallest building in London. Part of the Queen's House and Greenwich Hospital, designed by Sir Christopher Wren and Inigo Jones respectively, can be seen in the foreground.
