Moapa Dace. Moapa dace is a small fish commonly found throughout the headwaters of the Muddy River system in Nevada. In the last decade, dace populations have declined due to habitat destruction and modification. The Moapa dace is a member of the Cyprinidae family and the only member of the genus Moapa. This species has a distinctive leathery appearance, hence the name coriacea. The Moapa dace can grow up to inches, and are omnivorous. Competition with introduced species such as the mosquito fish and shortfin molly have also added to the dace's decline. The Moapa White River springfish
