The Sandbanks chain ferry carrying its cargo of vehicles and passengers across the mouth of Poole harbour to Shell Bay. Dorset, England, UK.

The Sandbanks ferry: The chain ferry “Bramble Bush Bay” supplies a regular shuttle service back and forth across the mouth of Poole Harbour in Dorset. This provides a useful short cut for road traffic between Bournemouth and Poole on one side and Swanage and the Isle of Purbeck on the other, enabling travellers to avoid the 13 mile journey around Poole Harbour. It also carries scheduled bus services and links the beaches of Shell Bay and Studland with Sandbanks for foot passengers, holidaymakers and Day-trippers.
