London, UK. 27th May, 2023. Many groups gather together to protest the new Public Order Bill. They say the new powers in the Public Order Bill (now Public Order Act), and immediate abuse by the police and UK Government at King Charles’s III Coronation, directly attack the right to protest. The bill introduces new restrictions including new powers to prevent protests occurring outside of major transport networks, oil and gas and energy supplies, making “locking on” a new criminal offence, and extending the use of stop and search powers  – including suspicion-less stop and search – to protests.
