Titianm tribunus# # # R dat dedicatque rite. All these altars appear to be oi the same date, fromthe mention of either the tribune Titianus or the Var-dulians. This Titianus might possibly be the sameas one, that was Procurator of Alexandria, and whomCaracalla put to death with one of his favorites calledTheocritus. The Varduli were a people of Spain, and are men-tioned by Mela, 1. hi. c. 1. and Pliny, 1. v. c. £ names are also found in three inscriptions, be-longing to Rochester in Northumberland, one ofwhich is dedicated to M. AVRELIVS SEVERVSANTONINVS; and another to the God of theSun for the health and the safety of the emperor ANTONINVS. They appear tohave been a part of the twentieth legion, which,
