According to the United States Information Agency data attached to this image, taken at the height of the Second Indochina War (Vietnam War, American War) in December, 1967: 'Two battalions of Viet Cong systematically killed 252 civilians in a "vengeance" attack on the small hamlet of Dak Son. Tears are streaming down the face of little three-year-old Dieu Do, now homeless, and fatherless'.
