An earthen levee, built to contain the sewage and rain waters of the La Compania canal in Valle de Chalco, State of Mexico, Mexico broke at 2:00 am on Sunday morning, April 17, 2011, inundating a major highway and hundreds of houses in this community on the outskirts of Mexico City. A Valle de Chalco city worker empties a household tank of fetid water left after the flooding.
