Wreck of a Douglas C-47 Skytrain, lying on the edge of a salt pan, Vansittart Bay, Western Australia. The C-47 (known as the Dakota by the RAF) was a military transport version of the DC-3 passenger aircraft. The pilot became lost and had to make an emergency landing on a salt pan. This happened in February 1946. The crew and passengers were rescued several days later.
