One of the prime causes of boilerexplosion is the gradual and insidious increase of thepressure of steam beyond the endurance of the boiler;but to every boiler there is a limit of pressure withinwhich it is substantially safe. This point should beascertained by hydraulic test annually, and no excessof pressure beyond this limit should be allowed at anytime.
