"Silver Lining" POPPY The plants form compact bushes of dark-green foliage six to eight inches in height, above which are borne numerous erect flower stems from fifteen to eigh- ^—^ teen inches in height, so 1\ty^\ tnat tne vivid flowers re- l\Ar^) semble a cloud of scarlet \~^^y butterflies hovering above ^ the plants. The flowers are single, quite large, and cup-shaped, strongly resembling those of a fin tulip but more delicate in texture The outer surface of the large rounded petals is an intense glow ing scarlet, with a large New Aster,—" CHRISTMAS ; This new type of Aster has a branching pyramidal form of growth, so that each individual flower is displayed on a long stem and stands out separately from its fellows instead of being closely grouped together. The plants are quite early in blooming, and from their distinct graceful habit are most desirable for planting individually at some little space apart, thus showing to the greatest advantage the distinct and symmetrical orm of growth. The flowers are of medium size, one and a half to two inches in diameter, finely double, with reflexed petals, and range through many beautiful shades of coloring. As each flower has a fine long
