Blue, Paradise or Stanley Crane (Anthropoides paradisea). Adult with 10 days old chick, searching for invertebrates amongst short grass. Note 'nictitating membrane' drawn across the surface of the eye, an instinctive protective reaction as chicks approach and could inadvertently come into physical contact.
