The Montelbaanstower, or Montelban Tower, in the Lastage neighborhood of Amsterdam. Built for the defense tower of the city, and located on the Oude Schans canal. The lower part was built in the 16th century; the spire was added as a decoration in 1606 and probably designed by Hendrik de Keyser. In the background is the steeple of the Zuiderkerk, also by de Keyser.
