The city of Alexandria is located on the northern, Mediterranean coast of Egypt, to the West of the Nile Delta. Founded around 331 BC by Alexander the Great, it has seen many conquerors and civilisations pass through, making it the most cosmopolitan and diverse city of Egypt. Here we see the large Kom el-Dikka archaeological site, which gives an insight to the Roman era of the city. This was a major civic center in Alexandria, with villas, a bath complex, auditoria and a theatre - seen here.
