The Alston Moor sale of Mule Gimmer Lambs is a big annual sale in October of each year. with over 17,000 lambs for sale at the October 2019 sale. Bred in the north, Mules are a crossbreed of a Swaledale mother sheep and a Blue Faced Leicester ram and are a very popular sheep for stocking herds with farmers all over the country.
