Île aux Orties near Vernon, 1897, Oil on canvas, 28 7/8 x 36 1/2 in. ( x cm), Paintings, Claude Monet (French, Paris 1840–1926 Giverny), Once an island, the Île aux Orties is now joined to the riverbank close to the site where the Epte flows into the Seine near Giverny. Monet owned the property and used it to moor his boats. He painted four versions of this composition, all signed and dated 1897
