The Poor Law is again in the balance ; and it is theduty of every one with experience or responsibilityin the matter of the care of the poor to consider whatnew course should be adopted. No one has spoken on this question with such in-timate knowledge, such clear intelligence and com-passion, as Dr. Chalmers, and it is with the hope thathis words will not be without an audience at thiscritical time that these pages are printed.
