He was educated inthe public schools of that city and after leaving thehigh school in 1899, at the age of eighteen years, heentered the Jefferson ^Medical College of Philadal-phia. completed the four year course, and was grad-uated with the degree of Doctor of Medicine in1903. He was for some time associated with theeminent Philadelphia specialist in gynecology andsurgery. Professor Fisher, and subsequently wentabroad to further study professional specialties. Forsix months he attended the Vienna General Hos-pital, having among other instructors the noted sur-geon, Dr. Lorenz. For a like period he was a stu-dent in Berlin, and during his sojourn there was a. -O- i~^JJotAiyh WORCESTER COUNTY 483 nembtr of the Anglo-American Medical Associationif Berlin. In 1902 he made a previous trip to Europe,Jvith his bride, and during this time observed meth-ods in the Strasburg hospitals. In 1904 he enteredipon general practice in his native city, matcmg aspecialty of diseases of women and children, forvhich he had prepared himself by his particular?tudy of gynecology and pediatrics. From the rirstle met with unusual success. Dr. Sauer is con-KCted with various leading fraternal and socialjrganizations—Morning Star Lodge, F. and A.
