But septic tank users should avoid draining too much disinfectant at one time; bacteria that that break down waste within the septic system can be killed by certain chemicals. * Gasoline, photo chemicals and pro- ducts such as old pesticides containing DDT or other banned chemicals should be brought to the appropriate area at the local dump.
