Brendall of the WesternNorth Carolina conference His first appointment was Big Lick missionin Stanley county, where he served two years,and was then appointed to the Granville cir-cuit. At the end of two years the conferencesent him to the Mt. Tirzah circuit, where he re-mained a full quadrennium. From that date his appointments were asfollows: Burlington station, 92, 93; RockyMount station, 94, 95, - 96; Washington sta-tion, 97, 98; Warrenton district, 99, 00, 01;Elizabeth City district, 02, 03, 04, 05; Rock-ingham station, 06, 07, 08, 09; Warrenton. REV. J. E. UNDERWOOD district, 10, 11; New Bern district, 12, 13,14, 15 ; Raleigh district, 16, 17, 18, 19 ; and Gibson, 20, 21. At the New Bernconference in the fall of 1921 he took the super-annuate relation which he sustained till trans-ferred to the church above on April 8, 1924. Of his 38 years as an active itinerant Methodist preacher 17 years were given to districtwork. But whether a presiding elder, stationpreacher or circuit rider, he was the same hard-working, successful itinerant minister. Backin the eighties there were two widely knownmissions among Methodist preachers, the onewas Big Lick and the other ,Reddies River. Itis among the traditions that one young preach-er asked to be sent to Reddies River, but tra-dition is silent on his asking to be sent translated brother began on one of thesesmall and trying charges, stayed two years,then advanced into that career which coveredthe entire field up to the largest
