WW2 bunker with modern graffiti at Skagen, Denmark.

WW2 bunker with modern grafitti at Skagen, Denmark. The bunkers in Denmark was part of the German atlantic Fortress, which counted some constructions in France, Belgium and Holland. In Denmark some 8000 concrete constructions was built - around 2000 of these falls into the cathegory of "Bunkers" (in German defined as: "Regelbau"). Contrary to what took place in the other occupied atlantic countries, the Danish concrete fortifications was not done by slavlabors, but unemployed workers was sent to the west coast where they was payed for their work and the same was the entreprenuers who conducted the entrepresis. The bunkers was built extraordinarily strong and today they are a all-pervading sight in many coastal areas of the western and north western shores of Denmark. Due to the movement of the shore line the bunkers "moves" to the sea - and many can been seen in the sea, as can be seen on the right side of this photo, where the roof of a bunker stick out of the sea. Local authorities increasingly tends to get rid of them - in 2013 some 120 bunkers is planned to be removed. The government supports this, where the bunkers may constitute a danger for tourists, but also see the bunkers as a national heritage. In multiple Danish coastal towns there are large complex of bunkers which today are laid out as museums and are major local tourists attractions.
