WILKINS,a recent arrival from Elder Querry MISSION RECORDERLEAVES ELDER JOSEPH HAFEN, fromProvo, Utah, began his missionarylabours September 23, 1948, in the Fresno district of the Northern Cali-fornia Mission while awaiting trans-portation to New Zealand. On , 1948, passage became available tothe Hawaiian Islands and he sailedon the Thor along with a largegroup of elders for the Pacific Mis-sions. He laboured among the Japan-ese people in the Hawaiian Islandsfor four months before passage to NewZealand could be obtained. After a longand interrupted journey he arrived inNew Zealand April 13, 1949, then pro-ceeded to Hastings for the Hui Tau. The first assignment in New Zealandwas to the Mission Office where helaboured until July when he was trans-ferred to the Taranaki District withheadquarters at Wanganui. Helaboured in this district until Hui Tau,1950, then was transferred to the Mis-sion Office to be Mission Recorder. Helaboured there until his release.
