Istanbul, Turkey. Hieroglyphs on Egyptian obelisk in the Hippodrome. The obelisk was originally raised in Upper Egypt by Pharaoh Tuthmosis III circa 1425 BC. It was brought to Istanbul in the late 4th century and set up in the spina of the Hippodrome by Emperor Theodosius I.
