The preparation is finished when the white mixture becomes a homo-geneous semitransparent paste of the consistence of honey. Uses.—Used alone as a soothing enema in irritation of the bowels ;used also as a vehicle for other remedies. Formerly starch paste was much more frequently employed thannow for stiffening bandages, plaster-of-Paris having taken its place to agreat extent. Dose.—Ad libitum. 138 A COMPANION TO THE.
