KILOWATT HOUR METER RECORD. BARN DATE months in 1915 as compared with the same period in1914 is shown in one of the accompanying charts. There also has been a remarkable improvement in theadjustment of brake tension at the carhouse during theperiod the meters have been in use. At the presenttime when a car leaves the carhouse with improper braketension, the motorman immediately reports the defect, because if the brakes are tight they increase the powerconsumption and reduce correspondingly the standingof the motorman. In 1911 this company used an aver-age of lb. of brakeshoes per 1000 car-miles, andin 1915 this was re-duced to lb.,which represented asaving of 5% percent.
