A pole lathe used by Mike Abbott a coppice craftsman


Mike Abbott a green wood worker using a traditional pole lathe which is foot powered. Year ago itinerant craftmen set up primitive brushwood shelters. these were the ' bodgers ' the men, with their expert skills and simple but ingenious tools, to shape the legs of windsor chairs. Most worked around the beechwoods in the chilterns. Mike is seen working at Bishop s Frome, he runs courses in woodland skills.
