Gulf of Policastro, Potenza Province, Basilicata, Italy: afternoon sunlight shines through spectacular clouds massing over the mountainous Tyrrhenian Sea coast in this view from the corniche northwest of the small beach resort of Acquafredda, looking southeast towards Cersuta, Maratea and the distant shores of Calabria. The Tyrrhenian Sea laps a dramatic coastline in this area close to the regional boundary with Campania, with steep cliffs, caves, sudden coves and beaches that can only be reached from the sea. At Porticello, just south of Acquafredda, is the entrance to the Grotta del Dragone (Cave of the Dragon), several kilometres deep and visited only by experienced cavers.
