A few additional captives were broughtin during the succeeding week, and on the 18th of November the armystarted on the return March for Fort Pitt, taking with them hostages toinsure the surrender of the remaining prisoners at Fort Pitt the followingspring. In May, 1765, the greater part of these prisoners, forty-four in number,* were brought to Fort Pitt by the Shawnees and deliveredinto the hands of George Croghan. The names of the prisoners delivered up to Bouquet, so far as thewriter has been able to discover, have never been printed. It is doubtfulif they have been preserved, in full.
