French Guinea situated on the coast of West Africa, between Portuguese Guinea and Sierra Leone, was a French colony. Capital — Conakry. French Guinea stamps were replaced by those of French West Africa around 1944-45. French Guinea became the Republic of Guinea Oct. 2, 1958.
