The regular meeting of the Tri-City Florists' Club was held at the residence of Henry Gaethje, at Eock Island. In view of the high cost of coal and labor, the members were inclined to be a little pessimistic as to the outlook for the coming year's business, when that sub- ject was discussed. The newly elected officers were in- stalled and the auditing committee made its report, showing a good balance in the treasury. The question of holding a flower show in the fall was brought up for reconsideration, and it was decided not to stage a show. The question of giv- ing chrysanthemums and other plants of which the florists have an oversupply to the Mothers' and Teachers' Club, to be distributed to the school children, after June 1, was passed favorably. William Goes, W. C. Wilson and Henry Gaethje were appointed to confer with the Mothers' and Teachers' Club and to make arrangements for the distribution of the plants. A telegram from the Chicago Florists' Club with regard to Mothers' day was read and tabled. After extending a vote of thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gaetlije, the meeting was adjourned to meet at the residence of Harry Bills, June 14. W. G. SEWICKLEY, PA. The April 10 meeting of the Sewickley Horticultural Society was poorly attend- ed, on account of a patriotic meeting held in the town. The section of the con- stitution relative to honorary member- ship was changed to read: "Persons who have furthered the interests of horticulture in connection with our so- ciety may be elected honorary mem- bers. '' It was resolved to invite a num- ber of residents of
