Mr Tunstal had a stuffed specimen in his mu-seum, which was shot in January, at Hartlepool, on theDurham coast. The foregoing figure and descriptionwere taken from a perfect bird, in full plumage, shot inApril, near Holy Island. It is not known that any attempts to domestic thisspecies have succeeded. MUSCOVY, CAIRO, GUINEA, OR INDIAN DUCK.(^nas mo/cbafusy Lin.—Le Canard Mufque^ Buff.) This species is less than the last, but much larger than-;the Common Duck, measuring about two feet in length*The bill is two inches long •, the tip and nostrils brown ;;the other parts of it red, as is also the naked warty skinwhich joins its base, and surrounds the eyes. The crown of the head is rather tufted or crested, andblack : the cheeks, throat, and fore part of the neck^white, irregularly marked with black : the belly, fromthe breast to the thighs, white. The general colour ofthe rest of the plumage is deep brown, darkest, andglossed with green on the back, rump, quills, and tail;the two outside feathers of the latter, and the first threeof the quills, are white : the legs and feet are red, short,and thick.
