Office of Superintendent of Shops H. D. Armstrong, formerly chief accountant inthis office, has been advanced to a position in theoffice of general superintendent of motive powerClark. We were sorry to lose Mr. Armstrong, butwere very glad that he received this deservedpromotion. His successor is J. J. Whelan,who a clerical position in this officefor some time. L Burns, formerly messenger in this office,has been transferred to a similar position inMr. Clarks office. G. R. Merryman is a newcomer at this sta-tion. He came from Connellsville, Pa., totake a stenographic position in our E. M. McCourt, formerly teleph(jne operatorin this office, has been promoted to a clericall)osition. He is succeeded by W. H. Love,transferred from the Baltimore and OhioBuilding. One of our number, M. H. Bowers, has re-cently enlisted in the matrimonial ranks. Anendeavor was made to keep this fact a darksecret, but as usual the facts leaked out. Wecongratulate Mr. Bowers and trust that he willfind great happiness in his new venture. Catcher E. Appleby, of our locomotive de-partment baseball team, employed in theerecting shop at this station, is rejoicing overthe recent arrival of twins in his family. Weattribute a large part of his prowess on the diamond to thehigh spirits causedby the arrival ofthese little stran-gers. R. M. Hesser,piecework inspec-tor at No. 2machine shop anda member of theGlee Club, andMiss Maude were mar-ried on June ceremony wasperformed inTrinity EnglishLutheran Churchby the Rev. E. Ide. MissEthel
