The stems of thisplant are of a dark purplish-blackcolor, spines long and dark, exept onyoung growth, then nearly red. Ithas handsome large white Grandiflorus Queen of Night. A fine plant on account of its grotes- que growth; from Buenos Ayres. Cuttings 25c. Quite heavy. Nycticalus. A splendid night bloomer of strong growth, with square stems and very smallspines. It produces very large white flowers resembling Grandiflorus. 25c Thkodosia B. Shepherd Companys Catalogue 59 Gemmaitus or Pipe A most interesting variety, with very smoothstems, divided into six deep ridges by long lines of short spines, resembling beading. The flow-ers are small, brownish-red, one inch long, and are very close together. The beauty of theplant lies in its massive grandeur and bead-like lines of spines. It resembles, when well grown,a great organ pipe. Small plants are handsome. Our largest specimen is 30 ft. high. 15c to 25c ea. Colubrinus and Splendens. We have a splendid stock of all sizes of C. Colubri-nus and Splendens, two varieties having the same habit of growth, both profuse bloomers, giv-ing on old plants fifty to one hundred flowers through the early spring and summer.
