Blacksmith lapwing (Vanellus armatus) by reflected in water. This long-legged shorebird is found in open grassy and bushy areas, close to water, in southern Africa. It feeds on insects, worms and molluscs. The blacksmith plover is named after its loud clinking alarm call. Photographed in Zimanga Reserve, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
